TOBOR Quest was a project completed as part of the Game Lab class offered at the University of Texas at Dallas. In this class, we worked with a group of around 30students in order to develop a short ~5 minute game over the course of a single semester. The prompt was to create a speed game in which you play as a delivery robot racing to get an order in on time. Working alongside another narrative designer, I came up with the setting, the two main characters (Turbo and T. O. Borre), and wrote a majority of the dialogue found in game. The tone of the game was very cartoony and silly, and so I was able to let loose and create a bunch of comedic lines for certain interactions, though a majority of them needed to be cut due to time. I also wrote all the dialogue and designed the layout for the game’s tutorial, and I worked directly with a voice actor to record the lines, though they were never implemented in game.
